Quote

You are not alone.
We want you to walk with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
Even if something goes wrong, it will lead to your future.
Because time, will always become an eraser for your memories.

You’ll forget about the painful times once time goes by.
Don’t suffer on your own, confide in someone.
It may take a lot of courage, but you aren’t that weak.

Here is my problem with this,

She is fairskinned, and she is a woman. I’m sure this white woman can tell you a thing or two about what it feels like to be bullied (see also, Demi Lovato). Women- just like many racial groups, and just like gays (& any other group of people that is considered “different)- receive just as much hate as anyone else in different ways. Women had to fight for many rights, just like gays do now. Women suffer all kinds of bullying, and torture, as well. It may be a lot easier now, but it’s a bit ignorant to say a woman does not know what it’s like to go through battles, face adversities, and even ‘get bullied’. Every 5 seconds I see a post about rape on women, women being slut-shamed, and dealing with body image issues because of society’s ideas of beauty and what a woman “should be”. Last time I checked, we also have no control of what gender we are born into. I agree 100% that these ladies don’t know what it’s like to be a gay person because none of them are (I believe Lady Gaga is bisexual? so we’ll count her out), but even as celebrities, they are bullied day to day. These women have to wake up and prepare themselves for the criticism and bullying that comes with the media exposure. Don’t discredit them for believing that people should not “feel like a waste of space”, that people should feel empowered and let their “colors burst”, that we all “are who we are” and it makes us awesome. I personally never played firework and felt like I was empowering and accepting my sexuality, but rather myself as a human being with flaws that don’t define me.

I guess the only valid argument here is Gaga, and whether or not she’s bisexual. If she is, then his argument is invalid and she should not be discredited for speaking on behalf of the LGBT community. If she isn’t, then I will agree with him.

But I guess he’s right in one argument, they are not us.

Quote reblogged from NPR Fresh Air with 548 notes

I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn’t the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, “I’m different.” If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I’m raising my hand.

If i could hold everyone that needs a hug i would,i know how insignificant a “it gets better” can be when you are at your worst,i know how bad you feel,i feel bad too,i feel insignificant too,but you know everyone that never felt this way is insignificant…if all you can do is cry and if all you have is yourself this means you can be reborn,i wish i could hug you i wish i could say all your feelings will snap away like the wind, but what will you learn from shortcuts if they are just for insignificant people? you have to challenge yourself to the maximum and never give up,please just…live, whoever is reading this and feel this way all i can say is see you soon in a brighter future, but for now on be strong
